Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Amanda Stiffler
I graduated from Berlin Brothersvalley High School in 2001. I attended Waynesburg College for one year and then transferred to the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown after realizing that my true passion was helping others through teaching. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from UPJ in 2005. After substituting at a few local school districts and coaching jr. high volleyball for Berlin in the fall of 2005, I moved to Maryland where I had obtained a long-term substitute position in a first grade classroom at Orchard Grove Elementary in Frederick County, Maryland. The following year I was hired by Washington County Public Schools to teach second grade at Salem Avenue Elementary. Two years later, I was fortunate to move back to Pennsylvania when I accepted a fifth grade teaching position at Chestnut Ridge Middle School. While there, I taught fifth grade ELA, sixth grade ELA, Reading Intervention, sixth grade math, and was an Instructional Coach. I also obtained my Master's Degree from Frostburg State University in Educational Administration and Supervision in 2010. Last summer, I left my teaching position at Chestnut Ridge to spend more time with my family and I became a substitute teacher at BBSD. I was a day-to-day substitute and a long term substitute during the 2018-2019 school year. I am thrilled to have been hired by my Alma Mater this past spring.
This is my first year teaching fifth grade at BBMS, but I am no stranger to the middle school setting. I love fifth graders and being able to watch my students mature throughout the year and really develop into who they are. I am looking forward to a year full of adventure!
I have been married to my husband, Craig Stiffler, for 6 years. We have two children, Knox (4) and Tatum (2). They loved helping me set up my classroom this summer! In our spare time we love to go for walks, swim, ride bikes, and do anything outdoors. Our favorite professional sports team is the Pittsburgh Steelers, but our very own Mountaineers will always be our favorite team to watch, no matter what sport is being played!
