Recycling

UPDATE: Our recycling program is still on pause.
Great Things are Happening!
For the past four years, students in Miss Zimmerman’s and Mr. Bertuzzi’s classrooms have been running a recycling program at BBSD. With the help from students, parents, staff, and the community, we were able to recycle over 600 lbs. of plastic bottle caps/lids. These caps/lids were then reprocessed and used to manufacture two new benches for our courtyard.
A special thanks goes out to Chuck and Shelva Hauer, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salisbury Hometown Pizza, Augustine Plastics Inc., Berlin PTSO, Berlin NHS, and Somerset Fraternal Order of Eagles. who graciously supported our cause through monetary donations. The Life Skills class has modified our recycling program at Berlin Brothersvalley School District. At school, we will continue collecting any used newspapers from the N.I.E. program (Newspapers in Education). However, we will no longer be accepting plastic bottle caps and lids.
Updates for the 2019-2020 school year:
We will continue to accept aluminum pop tabs (from the community) to help support the Ronald McDonald House charity.
If you would like to help our cause, we would ask that you kindly save and send in aluminum pop tabs in Ziploc bags. There will be a collection box in each of the offices as well as Miss Zimmerman’s and Mr. Bertuzzi’s classrooms.
If all the students participate, it will be a very exciting learning experience!
Thanks for your support!
