In August, the president attended a Somerset Rotary Luncheon meeting at the Country Club; he delivered a speech and presented the Rotary president an $800 check to purchase a ShelterBox.  The Rotary pledged to make up the difference for the ShelterBox, $200.

When school opened, senior officers planned the fall induction ceremony. In October (10th), senior NHS members welcomed new inductees to the chapter and held inductions with a reception following the ceremony.

Later in October, members sold and made hoagies! Thanks, Joan Menhorn and Mary Lou Woullard, for helping with the fundraiser!

The chapter also gave the Scholastic Quiz team a $400 donation to help fund their competition trip to D. C., and members also voted to purchase a Soccer Bubble Ball with the Keystone Logo for NHS on it – cost $180.

Members greeted all parents/guardians that dropped off their children at school just before Thanksgiving offering them coffee/hot chocolate and donuts. They also served coffee/hot chocolate and donuts to high school staff members.

Before the start of the Christmas season, members collected items for the Berlin Food Pantry in December. NHS thanks the elementary students, middle school students, high school students, and the community for their help in contributing 2,032 items for the local pantry! Congratulations to the third grade for donating the most items for this drive! NHS is proud to reward all elementary students with Crayola Crayons and thanks the teachers for their help! Members hope the Expo Markers will make the teachers' days colorful!

Helping to beat those winter blues in February, NHS held a Trivia Challenge Tournament at lunch in the cafeteria. The chapter awarded top finishers giving them gift cards.

To welcome in spring, once again, the chapter offered tea/coffee/hot chocolate and cookies to high school staff members.

In April and early May, members began volunteering at Meadowview – helping the Activities Director with bingo, bowling, and a Mother’s Day Tea for residents.

Working with JT Kline, members rallied for another cause; they collected Care Package items for the men and women that are sacrificing everything for us while overseas. NHS also delivered, sorted, and packaged items for the Legion/VFW. Thanks again to the community and students; the drive helped yield 1475 pounds of items for our fighting men and women!
